VanDusen Garden Plant Accession List

An online tool and resource to find the plants you're looking for in the Garden.

User Guide Review for tips and recommendations on how to get the best use of the VanDusen Garden Plant Accession List search tool and filter option.

  1. With over 7,500 plants in the Garden and on the Plant Accession List, the list view is limited to 500 plants per page (43 pages). Use the search tool to add information to your search and increase search results. Use the Filter Search Results to narrow your search. You will find it under the search results.
  2. Click on column headers to sort columns in alphabetical order or reverse, by bed number (lowest to highest or highest to lowest). Sort any column by clicking the header above each column. Indicators will appear after a column is sorted to indicate the sort direction. To reverse, click on '▼'. (A to Z: '▲' and Z to A:' ▼'. The first column defaults to A to Z.)
  3. Click on a row to highlight yellow.
  4. Click on the green Find on Map in the last column to display and scroll down to the bed number on the map. The bed will blink in highlighted green. You can move the map right, left, up, down to view the entire map on a mobile device.
  5. Search: If you know what you're looking for, specifically by botanical name or common name, you can type it into the search fields Search By Botanical Name or Search By Common Name. You can search by Family, Nativity, Habit*, Bed Number, the Year Planted or Accension Number.
  6. Tips:
    • To begin a search, enter a word in at least one of the fields. The results will display as you enter search terms. Reminder, the more information you include, the broader the search results.
    • To ensure you get the best search results, follow proper naming protocals and use correct spelling of search terms. Mispelling a word, will impact the search results.
    • Use the Filter Search Results option to narrow the search results to only plants that meet all of the criteria provided.
    • You can add search words before or after you sort a column.
    • Clear Search to restore to the Accession List to its original display.
    • Click Reset to Orginal Order to reset the columns to the original display.
